New Delhi, June 30 (HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated on Friday in the closing ceremony of the centenary celebrations of Delhi University. During this, he said that this university has not only been a university but also a movement.

The Prime Minister was addressing the valedictory function of the Centenary Celebrations of Delhi University, organised at the Multipurpose Hall of the Sports Complex of Delhi University.

The Prime Minister said that Delhi University is completing its 100th year at a time when the country is celebrating Amrit Mahotsav to mark 75 years of independence. He said that universities and educational institutions are a reflection of the achievements of a country. In the course of these 100 years, Delhi University has crossed many historical milestones.

He said that, be it a person or an institution, when his resolutions are linked with the resolutions of the country, then his success also moves step by step with the successes of the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi travelled by Delhi Metro on Friday to participate in the closing ceremony of the centenary celebrations of Delhi University. The Prime Minister also interacted with the passengers during his journey in the Metro. After reaching Delhi University, the Prime Minister also interacted with the students. During this, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was present with him.

During the event, the Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of the building of the Computer Centre and Faculty of Technology of the University of Delhi and the academic block to be built on the North Campus of the University.

It is noteworthy that Delhi University was established on May 1, 1922. During the last hundred years, this university has grown and expanded tremendously, and now it has 86 departments, 90 colleges, more than 6 lakh students, and has significantly contributed to nation-building.
