Delhi, 20 January: The Delhi Police have made a breakthrough in the deepfake video case involving actress Rashmika Mandanna. They have arrested the main accused, Eemani Naveen, who is 24 years old and hails from Andhra Pradesh.

The video, which went viral on social media in November 2023, caused an uproar and raised concerns about the need for regulations on social media platforms.

The video featured Rashmika’s face being superimposed on a video of British influencer Zara Patel, causing harm to her reputation. The Delhi Police filed a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act.

They also reached out to Meta (formerly known as Facebook) for assistance in identifying the accused and obtaining the necessary details.
