The ‘wazukhana’ was cleaned under the supervision of District Magistrate (DM) S Rajalingam, which took about three and quarter hours. After the water from the wazukhana was removed with three jet pumps, the live fish were handed over to the officials of the defendant party Anjuman Intejamia Masjid.

Officials said that the team of cleaning workers of Varanasi Municipal Corporation cleaned the washroom and also sprinkled lime. The cleaning work continued from 09 am to 11.45 am. During this time, strict security arrangements were made inside and outside Gate-4 and the premises of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

Police Commissioner Mutha Ashok Jain was also present in the premises during the cleaning.

During the cleaning work, two representatives each of the plaintiff side of Shringaar Gauri case and the Masjid Committee were also present.

It is noteworthy that this cleaning of the sealed ‘wazukhana’ of Gyanvapi complex has been done after the order of the Supreme Court. Due to the wazukhana being sealed, it could not be cleaned. Due to this, most of the fish had died causing omitting of foul smell.
