Delhi High Court directs Tihar Jail Administration to take decision by March 12

New Delhi, March 11: The Delhi High Court has directed the Tihar Jail administration to rethink the demand of a media house seeking permission to interview Nirbhaya convicts. A bench of Justice Naveen Chawla directed the Tihar Jail administration to take a decision in this regard by March 12.

On March 5, while hearing the petition of the media house, the High Court had said that you should not encourage them. The court had said that Nirbhaya’s convicts have made fun of the system.

The concerned media house had applied for permission from the Tihar Jail Administration on February 25 to interview the four convicts. But on February 27, the Tihar Jail Administration refused permission to interview the four convicts. The concerned media house told the court that their purpose in interviewing the four convicts is to stop such crimes in future.

It is noteworthy that on March 5, the Patiala Court issued a new death warrant to hang the four convicts of Nirbhaya gang rape and murder on Match 20.
