Delhi court allows Punjab police to arrest gangster Lawrence Bishnoi

New Delhi, 14 June: Delhi’s Patiala House Court has handed over gangster Lawrence Bishnoi to Punjab Police on transit remand in connection with the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala.

The court has given permission to arrest Lawrence Bishnoi on behalf of the Punjab Police.

Punjab Police had sought the transit remand of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in connection with the murder of singer Moose Wala.

Opposing the demand of Punjab Police, Bishnoi’s lawyer Vishal Chopra had said that if Punjab Police needs to interrogate Bishnoi in this case, then arrest him in Delhi and interrogate him.

On this, the Punjab Police had said that they would take Bishnoi in a bullet proof vehicle.

Following the Supreme Court’s order on transit remand, the vehicle carrying Bishnoi will be preceded by 12 vehicles to clear the road.

Today, the Special Cell of Delhi Police produced gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in Patiala House Court in connection with the Arms Act. Bishnoi’s police custody was ending today, after which the Special Cell of Delhi Police presented him in the court. On June 10, the court sent Bishnoi to police custody till date.

Bishnoi’s name has cropped up in the murder of singer Sidhu Moose Wala from Punjab.

Meanwhile, Bishnoi had approached the Patiala House Court and the Delhi High Court, alleging an encounter with the Punjab Police, but the petition was rejected.
