New Delhi, 09 June: The Delta variant responsible for the second wave of coronavirus transmission across the country is more dangerous than last year’s infection. However, it is a matter of relief that the indigenous anti-Covid-19 vaccine ‘Covaxin’ is effective on this too.

In a recent research, it was revealed that the dose of the indigenous vaccine Covaxin is effective against both the deadly variants Delta and Beta.

The dangerous delta variant (B.1.617.2) of Covid-19 was first detected in India while the Beta variant (B.1.351) was first discovered in South Africa.

Research has shown that Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin is effective against both these variants. In research to evaluate the neutralization potential of Covaxine, researchers found a three-fold reduction in the concentration of neutralizing antibodies against beta and delta variants. It is clear from this that Covaxine produces antibodies against Beta and Delta variants.
