Centre directs YouTube to remove Aaj Tak Live, 2 others channels

New Delhi, 21 December: The union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Wednesday directed YouTube to remove three channels (Aaj Tak Live, News Headlines and Government Updates). All three channels are accused of spreading misleading news in the country.

These channels have more than 40 videos making false and sensational claims about the Supreme Court, the Chief Justice of the country, government schemes, Electronic Voting Machines (EVM), farm loan waivers etc.

It is noteworthy that the Fact Check Unit of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has on Tuesday exposed three YouTube channels spreading misleading news in the country. These channels have around 33 lakh subscribers and videos. These include 9.67 lakh subscribers of News Headlines, 22.6 lakh subscribers of Government Updates and 65.6 thousand subscribers of Aaj Tak Live.
