BJP workers protest against the arrest of Arnab Goswami in several cities of Maharashtra

Mumbai, November 04: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) protested against the arrest of Republic TV channel editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami on Wednesday in several cities of Maharashtra, including Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Raigad, Nagpur and Aurangabad.

The BJP has termed this arrest against democracy. The party leaders said that this arrest has brought back memories of the Emergency.

Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Devendra Fadnavis has strongly condemned the arrest of Arnab by tweeting. He also termed it against democracy of the country.

The BJP workers protested at Panvel in Raigad district to protest against Arnab’s arrest.

Legislative Council Leader of Opposition Praveen Darekar, BJP State Vice President Kirit Somaiya, MLA Prashant Thakur and all party officials and workers attended.

Praveen Darekar said that the manner in which Arnab was arrested is fatal to democracy.

He said that Arnab was continuously raising voice against the state government, so he has been arrested in the old case.

A similar protest was held in front of the Veer Savarkar Auditorium in Mumbai. The BJP workers have also demonstrated in other cities including Pune, Aurangabad, Nashik, Nagpur.
