Thiruvananthapuram, 16 December: In Kerala’s local body elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)led NDA coalition captured the Pandyalam municipality of Lord Ayyappa’s religious region, winning a moral victory. The BJP has also won in the ward of the famous Sabarimala temple.

Reacting to the election results, Kerala BJP president K Surendran said that it was an emotional moment for the devotees of Lord Ayyappa. The BJP won the Sabarimala Bachao Andolan in the Pandalam municipality, the birthplace of Lord Ayyappa, as the main party.

He attributed the support of the opposition Congress Party to the success of the Left Democratic Front led by the Marcusist Communist Party in the elections.

The state BJP president said that Kerala would soon become a Congress-free state and there would be a contest between the Communist Party of India and the BJP in the 2021 assembly elections.
