New Delhi/ Varanasi, 22 November: Protest is continuing over the appointment of Dr. Feroz Khan to the post of Assistant Professor in the Department of Literature of the Faculty of Sanskrit Sciences at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Varanasi of Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s backed organization – Sanskrit Bharti has justified the appointment of Dr. Khan.

All India General Secretary of Sanskrit Bharti, Shrish Devpujari said that Dr. Khan has been appointed in the Literature Department under the ‘Faculty of Sanskrit Science Religion’. We have to understand that a faculty consists of many departments. BHU’s ‘Sanskrit Vidya Dharm Vigyan Faculty’ also has many departments like literature, grammar, theology, Vedas etc.

He has also appealed to angry students to end the agitation. He said that university administration should try to make the situation normal.

Shrish Devpujari said, “Some people are spreading untruthful propaganda through communication media that Dr. Feroz Khan will now teach rituals, get yagyas done. The appointment process is signed by the Dean and Head of Department. Whether they appoint any Muslim to perform rituals or perform Yajna? All have different departments and all different departmentts have different appointmets of scholarly professors. They are able to teach their subjects very well. “
