Ban on hookah bars and e-cigarettes in Rajasthan, bill passed in assembly

Jaipur, Aug 3: In  Rajasthan, the government of Ashok Gehlot is going to put a full ban on hookah bars and e-cigarettes. In this regard, the Rajasthan Assembly passed a bill related to cigarette and other tobacco products.

Presenting the bill, Health Minister Dr. Raghu Sharma said that around 80 lakh people worldwide died due to the use of tobacco products, out of which 10 lakh people are Indians. They quoted this figure by quoting a report from the World Health Organization.

According to the estimate on this report, in Rajasthan, more than 50 thousand people die due to consumption of tobacco. 

Cardiovascular disease, cancer, respiratory diseases, stroke, etc. are the main diseases caused by tobacco. Along with this, the University of Health Sciences (Amendment) Bill 2019 was also introduced in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly. He clarified that our government is in favor of full autonomy of the University of Health Sciences. We do not want to interfere with the autonomy of the university. Our aim is that situations of autocracy, irregularity and favoritism do not arise in the university and action can be taken if such situations arise.
