Sambhal police nabs Aadhaar forgery gang; key equipments recovered

Sambhal, March 22: The Sambhal police in Uttar Pradesh arrested three members of a gang involved in making and modifying fake Aadhaar cards, recovering eight forged cards, a laptop, a fingerprint scanner, and other equipment, while four accused remain absconding as the search continues.

The Bahjoi police station in Sambhal informed about their arrest at the Additional Superintendent of Police’s office.

The Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kuldeep Singh and Bahjoi’s Circle Officer (CO), Pradeep Kumar in their joint statement told that the Bahjoi police conducted the raid after receiving complaints from the public. Jasvir Kumar, Harish, and Viltu were arrested during the raid. They had hacked another center’s ID and were illegally making Aadhaar cards from unknown locations. Police have seized a large quantity of equipment from them and filed two cases under relevant sections. The accused are being interrogated, and a search is underway for other gang members.

According to the police, the accused were using a primary ID after hacking it. They were using these IDs from an unknown location via the internet. Investigations revealed that they hacked the system using specialized software. Police are now investigating whether they hacked just one ID or used IDs from other states/locations as well. Efforts are underway to arrest their absconding associates.
