5 member CBI team reaches Prayagraj to probe Mahant death case

Prayagraj, 23 September: After the recommendation of the state government in the death of Mahant Narendra Giri, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team has reached the district. It is reported that it is holding a meeting with the police officers in the police line. However, no official statement has come about it yet.

According to sources, a five-member team of CBI has reached the district. Talks are on with the SIT team about the investigation done so far before taking the case in their hands. The team has also taken a copy of the FIR.

It is noteworthy that there is outrage among the saints of the country due to the death of Mahant Narendra Giri, President of the Akhara Parishad. Saints of Prayagraj, Ayodhya and adjoining districts say that Mahant Narendra Giri cannot commit suicide. They had demanded a CBI inquiry into the entire matter from the state government.

On Wednesday late night, the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath government had recommended a CBI inquiry into the Mahant Narendra Giri death case.

An 18-member team probing the death of Mahant Narendra Giri is holding a meeting with the police officers at the police line on Thursday. CBI team is also present in this, but till now no statement has come from any officer.
