3 women PAC battalions to be named after female freedom fighters

Lucknow, 20 March: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath confirmed that the state government has announced three women PAC battalions in the name of three great women freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives during the first freedom movement of the country.

Yogi said that these battalions are going to be established from today. These battalions are named after Queen Avanti Bai, Uda Devi and Jhalkari Bai. All formalities in this regard have been completed.

The Chief Minister was addressing the gathering after garlanding the statue of Rani Avanti Bai Lodhi on Saturday at Hazratganj. During this, former Union Minister and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Uma Bharti was also present.

The Chief Minister said that on the sacrificial day of Rani Avanti Bai Lodhi, the nation is bowing to her today. He said that in order to liberate this country from the slavery of the British rule, Bundelkhand had also played a very big role in the revolution that had ignited in different places within the country. Rani Laxmibai in Jhansi and Rani Avanti Bai in Ramgarh were leading this entire independence movement.

The Chief Minister said that and in 1857 she had also conquered but the traitor in the house has finally been the enemy of all of us and the same happened with Avanti Bai.

He said that when many kings, Maharajas were accepting British rule to save their power, the kingdom, then Rani Laxmi Bai and Rani Avanti Bai refused to accept the nemesis of the foreign rule and till the last moment they had taken the motherland. They continued to fight for the self-respect and honour of the country.

The Chief Minister said that her sacrifice is inspiring all of us to keep the unity and integrity of India intact.

The Chief Minister said that inspired by these great adventures of Mother India, the Government of Uttar Pradesh has started a special program, Mission Shakti to honour the protection of mother power and self-reliance in the state. Under this mission power, we have reserved 20 percent posts in Uttar Pradesh Police for women, so that the dignity of women is protected. Along with this, the sacrifice of Viraganas should also be discussed.

He said that help desk has been set up in 1,535 police stations, 350 tehsils of the state for women safety. A cyber cell has also been established at every level for cyber crime related to women. The Inspector General of Police has been given responsibility for hearing cyber crime against women in every division. It is our endeavour to establish at least five women police reporting posts in every district.

On this occasion, former Union Minister Uma Bharti said that Rani Lakshmi Bai and Avanti Bai defeated the British during the first War of Independence of 1857 and ruled for a year thereafter. After this she was sacrificed due to the betrayal of his own people. However, she refused to accept the subjugation of the British. Today is very important for her memory to remember.
