3.37 crore people get free food grains in UP in one day

Lucknow, August 05: Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY), a new record has been set in the state by doling out over one lakh 68 thousand metric tonnes of free ration to more than 80 lakh ration card holders in a day.

However, over three crore 37 lakh people have been benefitted by this. Not only in the country, but in the world, the name of UP has been registered in giving free ration to maximum number of people in single day.

Under the PMGKAY, the state has created a new record in the world by ‘Fulfillment of resolve with service’. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced free ration in March last year under the PMGKAY. Under this, the central government has given free ration for 11 months and the state government for five months. Due to this, about 15 crore people of the state have got free ration every month.

A spokesperson of the state government informed that Chief Minister Yogi had directed that in view of that no one should go hungry during the corona period, not a single needy should be deprived of ration. If you do not have ration card, then make it immediately.

Ration given in waterproof bag

The spokesman said that the information of every beneficiary was updated every day on the state government’s portal through e-POS machines. Through this, how many people got ration, it could be seen live. After getting the ration to the beneficiary, the information was being updated on the website as soon as the thumb was put on the e-POS machines. In this program which started from morning till late evening, over five crore beneficiaries had received free food grains. The special thing was that this time ration was being given in a waterproof bag by the Yogi government; both ration and bag have been given free.

In these districts people got maximum ration in a day

According to the official spokesperson, Azamgarh, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur and Sitapur districts were given maximum ration in a day in the state. Ration has been given to 2,57,848 card holders in Azamgarh, 2,45,708 in Prayagraj, 2,33,500 in Gorakhpur and 2,27,900 in Sitapur.

Subsidized savings of more than 3263 crores till May

The spokesman said that in the previous governments, black marketing of ration and protests and demonstrations over corruption had become common, but in order to make the ration distribution system tight, ration distribution was started by the state government through e-POS machines. As a result, the state government has saved subsidy of more than 3263 crores till May.
