2 gangsters involved in human trafficking sent to 12 days police custody

Lucknow, 15 December: Under a syndicate, two gangsters who illegally brought citizens of Bangladesh and Myanmar to India have been sent to the custody of UP Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) for 12 days.

So far 19 people have been arrested in connection with human trafficking.

ATS IG GK Goswami said on Wednesday that 19 people, including gang leader Mufizur Rahman and Mohammad Qayyum Sikdar alias Khokhan Sardar, were arrested on different dates in the human trafficking case.

โ€œThe gangster Mufizur Rahman was arrested from Kolkata. While Qayyum was taken into custody on Wednesday and brought to the headquarters for interrogation, after which he was arrested. Both the gang leaders were produced in the Special Court (NIA/ATS) today. Police custody remand for 12 days of both has been approved from 11 am on Thursday,โ€ told IG UP ATS.

He further apprised that during this period, detailed information will be taken from the accused about their associates and the persons who got the fake documents made and the syndicate.

The ATS IG also informed that eight Bangladeshis arrested on December 12 have been taken on custody remand by UP ATS at 11 am on Wednesday. These accused will be interrogated and if needed they will also be taken to the places where they have lived earlier.
