14 minors rescued from clutches of child traffickers, 2 detained

Sonbhadra, 12 July: Fourteen juveniles were rescued from the hands of child traffickers in the Chaupan district of here on Wednesday, according to officials.

According to District Minority Welfare Officer Sudhanshu Shekhar Sharma, two people were also detained.

“On Tuesday night, 14 minor boys were rescued and two child smugglers were apprehended in a joint operation with the Railway Protection Force and members of the Child Welfare Committee. The youngsters were to be transported by rail.” All of the rescued minor males are between the ages of 10 and 14.

They were all Sonbhadra locals who had been sent to Shamli to work as workers. Hridyaarayan and Vinod Jugail, the arrested child traffickers, were identified. The youngsters who had been rescued were turned over to the Child Welfare Committee. The police are looking into the situation.
