Lucknow, 1 May: The Yogi Adityanath government will now use bulldozers on all encroached government property throughout the state, including parks and ponds. All municipal bodies have been directed to identify illegal structures and encroachments and to take appropriate action.

It has also been directed to make certain that information on encroachments available on the Anti Land Mafia Portal (IGRS Portal). According to a recent state government directive, every urban body is supposed to indicate any public lands, parks, ponds, puddles, and so on that are being encroached upon by the land mafia or anybody else.

The directive further states that it will be the obligation of each urban body to give information about its body to the Director of Local Bodies, who would make this information accessible to the government.

It is worth noting that the Revenue Department has been pursuing an anti-land mafia campaign since 2017 in order to eradicate encroachment from public land and to take decisive action against unlawful encroachers. In addition, a four-level task group has been formed to assess the anti-land mafia effort at the state, divisional, district, and tehsil levels.

The State Level Anti Land Mafia Task Force is chaired by Chief Secretary Daya Shankar Mishra, and members include the Principal Secretary of the Urban Development Department and other departments.
