Yogi govt effectively implements Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana across state, as per health dept

Lucknow, 09, March: The Yogi government is effectively running the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana 2.0, which is being run by the Central Government to solve the health and nutrition related problems of pregnant and lactating women in the state. 

In the first phase, Rs 2534.11 crore has been paid to 47.53 lakh beneficiaries from 2017-2023. Under this, an amount of more than Rs 111.61 crore has been provided to 2.74 lakh beneficiaries in the second phase from April 2023 till now. 

The scheme is being implemented by the Health Department through the State Family Planning Innovation Services Agency (SIFSA) since 2017. It has been decided by the Government of India to operate PMMVY 2.0 from April 2022 through the sub-plan Sakthi under Mission Shakti. 

Under the scheme, partial changes have also been made for the ease and effective operation of the beneficiaries. Under the scheme, in the first phase, women will be provided Rs 5,000 in three installments for the first child, while in the second phase, a total of Rs 11,000 will be provided, including Rs 5,000 in two installments for the first child and Rs 6,000 for the second child (girl). Special registration campaign was conducted in different phases .

According to the information received from the Health Department, under the second phase of this scheme, till March 04, 2024, a total of 541782 women registered, out of which 2.74 lakh have received its benefits. Under this, he was provided Rs 111.61 crore. In terms of maximum registration, Bahraich stood at number 1 where 25,678 registered. After this, districts like Varanasi (19,667), Ghaziabad (18,131), Rampur (15,057) and Basti (12,760) were included. To enhance the progress, special registration drives were organized by the Health Department in various phases in accordance with the guidelines of the Government of India. 

For the implementation of PMMVY and increase in registration of beneficiaries and qualitative improvement, divisional project managers are being directed for training and skill development by regularly monitoring and visiting the area. Apart from this, review meetings are being organized by the Divisional Additional Director, Medical, Health and Family Welfare with the Chief Medical Officers of their regional districts.Â
