Yogi government to provide cash relief to rape and mob lynching victims, Jewar airport gets 80 ha land

Lucknow,September 10: The Uttar Pradesh cabinet which met here on Tuesday took two major decisions including one to provide “interim cash relief” to rape and mob lynching victims,making a departure from the past.

The cash assistance was provided earlier too  but only after completion of probe.Now,it will be given during the probe.The victims will receive the compensation within 30 days of the incidents.

The assistance will depend on reports of district magistrates.As much as 25 per cent of the total assistance recommended will be provided pending inquiry.

This decision has been taken in the light of a Supreme Court’s  order issued in July last.

Another major decision taken today was related to Jewar airport near Delhi.The cabinet has decided to provide about 80 hectares of land  for construction of the airport free of cost.Of the total about 60 hectares belong to  the Gramsabha.

Estimated to cost over Rs 15,000 crores it will be ready for operation in 2023.It will have eight runways.Construction is expected to start early next year.
