Woman’s body exhumed after allegations of dowry death

Pratapgarh, 29 July; According to authorities, the body of a 36-year-old woman, whose in-laws claimed she died of electrocution, was excavated on Friday evening after her brother claimed she was slain for dowry.

Sunita Devi had been married to Pappu Pal of Isipur village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Antu police station, for 17 years, according to Additional Superintendent of Police (East) Vidyasagar Mishra.

Sunita Devi died of electrocution on July 12 and was buried, according to her in-laws, the official added.

However, on July 23, her brother Manoj Kumar filed a dowry death complaint, after which the corpse was excavated and sent for a post-mortem examination, according to Mishra.
