Wheat procurement in UP to begin from March 1

Lucknow , February 29: Government procurement of wheat will start in Uttar Pradesh from March 1, which will continue till June 15. Yogi government has set the support price of wheat at Rs 2275 per quintal. The state government has directed that farmers should not face any kind of problem during this period.

A spokesperson of the state government said on Thursday that for the sale of wheat, it is mandatory for the farmers to get registration-renewal done on the Food and Logistics Department’s portal fcs.up.gov.in and on the department’s mobile app UP KISHAN MITRA. The department has requested the farmers to take the wheat for sale at the purchasing center only after sifting it, cleaning it of soil, pebbles, dust etc. and drying it thoroughly. This year, wheat can also be sold by sharecropper farmers after registering.

The spokesperson said that online registration of farmers for purchasing wheat has started from January 1 on the portal of Food and Logistics Department, fcs.up.gov.in. So far 1,09,709 farmers have registered.

According to the government spokesperson, wheat procurement will continue from 9 am to 6 pm every day at the purchasing centers till June 15, except Sundays and other holidays. Yogi government has directed that farmers should not face any kind of problem. The department has also made preparations for this. For any emergency, the Food and Logistics Department has issued a toll free number 18001800150. To solve any problem, farmers can contact the District Food Marketing Officer or Regional Marketing Officer of Tehsil or Marketing Officer of the Block.

He said that there is a plan to set up a total of 6500 purchasing centers of the Food Department and other purchasing agencies for the purchase of wheat. The Food and Logistics Department has made arrangements to make wheat price payment through PFMS directly into the Aadhaar linked accounts of farmers within 48 hours.
