Dehradun, 20 November: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the government has taken an important decision in the Silkyara Tunnel issue of Uttarkashi.

According to this decision, the state government will now bear the expenses of the families of the workers who are concerned about their well-being.

However, the work of evacuating the workers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel is going on at a fast pace. During this period, if the relatives of the workers are coming to know their condition, then the government will make arrangements for their travel, accommodation and food. Responsibility for this has been entrusted to senior officers.

Apart from this, three more officers have been sent to the spot in the coordination team to share information including rescue work with officials of other states. All officers have been instructed to immediately contribute to the arrangements related to rescue work.

Chief Minister Dhami said on Monday that the rescue work is going on war footing at all levels to safely rescue 41 workers trapped in the Silkyara Tunnel accident in Uttarkashi.

He said that along with the rescue work in the tunnel, every moment information is being shared by establishing better coordination with the family members who are coming to inquire about the well-being of the workers. For this, a police control room has been established in Uttarkashi since the day of the incident to maintain contact and coordination with the families of workers from other states and the officials of these states. From there the family members are being given updated information.

Even at the government level, senior IAS Neeraj Khairwal has already been given the responsibility of coordinating with the team of central institutions, agencies and experts. Besides, SDM Shailendra Singh Negi has also been sent to the spot in advance.

On the instructions given by the Chief Minister in Silkyara last day, Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey has given orders to include Haridwar SDM Manish Singh, DSO Haridwar Tejbal Singh and DPAO Rudraprayag Akhilesh Mishra in the team.

On the instructions of District Magistrate Uttarkashi, all these officers will look after food, accommodation and transportation for the families of the workers and all the important arrangements related to the rescue work. Everyone has been instructed to discharge their responsibilities immediately on the spot.

The Uttarakhand government has also made complete arrangements for transportation, travel and other necessary care for the families of the workers to the incident site, so that the families who come here to inquire about the well-being of the workers do not face any difficulty.

The Chief Minister has also said that the Uttarakhand government will bear the travel expenses of the families of the workers who want to come here. The said officers have been given responsibility for this.

He directed the officials to make all the necessary arrangements for the needy families coming here, from mobile recharge to food, accommodation and transportation.
