Washington, 30 July: Four US Senate members, including Chairman of the Foreign Affairs, have demanded removing Afghanistan from the United Nations Organisation (UNO).

The Senators have charged Afghanistan with continuous violation of human rights.

Foreign Affairs Committee Chief Robert Menendez and his colleagues James E Risch, Jeanne Shaheen and Joni K Ernst wrote a letter to the UN General Secretary Antonio Guterres, expressing concern over human rights violations in Afghanistan. They demanded that the Taliban and Afghanistan should be removed from every seat of the UNO. They also demanded action against Afghanistan for human rights protection.

During the meeting of the Credential Committee to decide on representation by the Taliban for Afghanistan, no seat should be granted. This is an opportunity to demonstrate that UNO is against the Talibanโ€™s efforts to deprive Afghan women of their rights, the letter says.
