UP STF arrests inter-state ‘ganja’ smugglers

Lucknow, 13 January: UP Special Task Force (STF) on Wednesday arrested driver and cleaner involved in inter-state drug trafficking racket.

However, the Police have seized 10.62 quintal cannabis from their possession, which has an international value of about Rs four crores.

According to the UP STF team, information was being received about the active involvement of drug trafficking gangs in the districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh for a long time. After this, various teams of STF have been deployed in the districts to nab these smugglers.

On Wednesday, an STF team arrested them near Robertsganj Markundi toll plaza in Sonbhadra district.

The arrested accused Ram Singh Nanak and Sanjay Singh Patel are residents of Prayagraj. Both are truck driver and cleaner.

Meanwhile, the STF has recovered large amount of narcotics from the truck and cash from the accused.

During the interrogation, the arrested accused told that the recovered โ€˜ganjaโ€™ was being brought from Balangir in Odisha, which was given to us several times by Kesarwani and Pradeep, resident of Gangotri, Naini, Prayagraj. They get a hefty amount for this work. Drugs were hidden in luggage trucks.
