UP: State Electoral Officer shares information on seizure of cash, drugs, alcohols in view of LS polls

Lucknow, March 29: Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh Navdeep Rinwa said in a statement issued on Friday that in the Lok Sabha General Elections-2024, Excise, Income Tax, Police and Narcotics Department and other enforcement agencies have collected Rs 1479.20 lakh in cash, Rs 2242.06 lakh from March 1 to March 28. 632245.35 liters of liquor worth Rs 3527.60 lakh, 4499949.66 grams of drugs worth Rs 1778.18 lakh, 39163.86 grams of precious metals worth Rs 1.43 lakh, 298 free gifts worth Rs 1.43 lakh and 896.21 other items worth Rs 112.34 lakh were seized.

Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh said that so far drugs, cash, free gifts, liquor, precious metals and other materials worth Rs 9140.81 lakh have been seized. On March 28, due to the activeness of the election teams, one kilogram of drug with an estimated value of Rs 2 crore was detected and seized in Ghazipur assembly constituency of Ghazipur district.

Navdiv Rinwa said that during the actions of the election teams in the districts, 7.4 kg of drugs with an estimated value of Rs 74 lakh were seized in Nanpara Assembly Constituency of Bahraich district and Rs 13.54 lakh in cash was seized in Ghaziabad Assembly Constituency of Ghaziabad district. Excise, Income Tax, Police and Narcotics departments and other enforcement agencies are keeping an eye on every suspicious activity and taking seizure action.
