UP: Power demand up by 1646 MW as compared to last year

Lucknow, April 11: Due to extreme heat, the demand for electricity has increased by 1646 MW in April this year as compared to April last year.

Due to this the power supply has started getting tied up. For this, the Power Minister has ordered the power workers to take utmost care.

Last year in the month of March, the demand for electricity was 18,593 MW, while this year it unexpectedly increased to 20,479 MW. That is, in the month of March itself, 1886 MW more electricity demand increased this year as compared to the previous year.

At the same time, in the month of April last year there was a demand of 19,837 MW, while this year 21,483 MW was demanded in this month.

That is, there is more demand of 1646 MW in the month of April than last year. To meet the increased demand, UP Power Corporation is ensuring record power supply. Never before has there been so much power supply in April. There was an electricity demand of 19328 MW on April 1, which has increased to about 2000 MW till April 10.

State Energy and Additional Energy Resources Minister AK Sharma said that the State Government is very serious about uninterrupted power supply. For this, all the distribution officers should be vigilant in their respective work areas and it should be monitored daily by the MDs of all the discoms.
