UP police nabs two inter-district cow slaughterers in an encounter

Amethi, September 13: The Jais Kotwali police and SWAT team of Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh caught two inter-district cow slaughter criminals who were planning to slaughter a cow in an encounter late Friday night. Both of them were shot in their legs and have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.

The Superintendent of Police (SP) Aparna Rajat Kaushik told on Saturday that, based on information, the Jais Kotwali police and the SWAT team gheroed the cow shelters in the area last night. On seeing the police team, the miscreants started firing. In the retaliatory action, two accused got injured and fell down, while their other companions took advantage of the darkness and fled.

SP further informed that the arrested accused have been identified as Azad (28) and Sirtaj (32), sons of Allu, residents of Kanchana police station Jais. During interrogation, both of them accepted that on the night of September 11, they, along with their four other companions, had committed the crime of cow slaughter in Sarai Mahesha village. Police recovered two pistols, four live cartridges, three empty cartridges, knife, iron axe, wooden platform, ropes, torch, foil, sack and motorcycle used in cow slaughter from the possession of the accused.

SP said that both the arrested accused are real brothers and several serious cases including Cow Slaughter Prevention Act, Arms Act, Gangster Act, theft and fraud are registered against them in Amethi and Rae Bareli districts. Police have registered a case against the accused and started further action. Raids are being conducted in search of the absconding accused.
