Lucknow, 25 March: After the state capital Lucknow and Noida, now the Police Commissionerate system can be implemented in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Parliamentary constituency Varanasi and industrial city Kanpur.

Therefore, the churning has started with this. It is being hoped that before the three-tier panchayat elections, the police commissioners will take over the command of these two districts.

However, notification of three-tier panchayat has not been issued yet, but the order of transfer of Police officers has been issued at the government level.

In the past, about 165 Provincial Police Service (PPS) officers have been transferred from the Police Department while police chiefs of many districts are also to be changed. In such a situation, after Lucknow and Noida, once again the exercise has started in the direction of implementing the Police Commissionerate system in Varanasi and Kanpur.

If sources are to be believed, in today’s cabinet meeting, the proposal to implement the commissionerate in Kanpur, Varanasi can be cleared.

Police commissioner will be of ADG rank

In Varanasi and Kanpur, if the Police Commissionerate system comes into force, then there will be Police Commissioner in place of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP).

The officer of the rank of ADG will be given the responsibility of the Commissioner of Police. It is not even necessary that ADG of Kanpur or Varanasi should become the Commissioner of Police. The ADG of another city may be assigned the responsibility.
