UP: Fire breaks out in bogie of Vaishali Express, 19 passengers injured, 11 critical, 2nd incident in 12 hrs

Etawah, 16 November: So far, 19 passengers were injured in a fire in S-6 coach of Vaishali Express going from New Delhi to Saharsa in Bihar. After much effort, the fire was controlled and the injured passengers were admitted to the district hospital.

In view of the critical condition of 11 passengers, they have been referred to Saifai Medical University. This is the second incident of fire in a train within 12 hours. The damaged bogie was separated and the train was sent to its destination.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Satpal Singh, who reached the spot, said that at around 2 o’clock in the night in the S-6 coach of Vaishali Express (train number 12554) going from New Delhi to Saharsa in Bihar near Mainpuri Railway Crossing near Etawah Railway Station. Information about the fire was received from the control room. The police and fire department team reached the spot and after much effort brought the fire under control and admitted the injured passengers to the district hospital. Eleven seriously injured passengers have been referred to Saifai Medical University.

He said that the cause of the fire is being said to be short circuit, detailed information will be revealed after the investigation of the incident is done by the railway administration.

Station Superintendent Puranmal Meena said that among the injured passengers, eight passengers fell ill due to burn injuries and eleven passengers fell ill due to suffocation due to smoke. The bogie damaged due to fire has been separated from the train and the train has been sent to its destination.
