UP (Crime): 2 Nepalese girls gang-raped, 4 arrested

Balrampur, 27 June: Four men were detained on Monday for allegedly raping two Nepalese girls who had arrived here to a weekly market in the Haraiyya area of โ€‹โ€‹the district.

Balrampur SP Rajesh Kumar confirmed that the Gangsters Act and the National Security Act (NSA) would be invoked against suspects Ramchandra, Rajendra, Rakesh, and Pintu.  

The incident occurred on Sunday when two girls from Nepal’s Dong district went to the weekly Manipur Bazar in the border area. The four accused reportedly stopped them on the way and raped them by dragging the girls to a forest.

According to the victims, they returned home and told their family members about the incident.

SP Kumar stated that the families approached the Nepal Police, who then contacted the Haraiyya police station. According to the SP, a case was filed and arrests were made.

He stated that the matter will be handled in a fast-track court. The girls have been sent for medical examination, according to the police officer, who also stated that further investigation is underway.
