UP continues to witness rise in Covid-19 cases despite 3 days lockdown

Lucknow, July 13: The coronavirus infection cases are surging rapidly during Unlock-2 across the state of Uttar Pradesh.

In Microbiology Department of the King Georgeโ€™s Medical University (KGMU) of the Lucknow, 242 reports out of 4,160 samples tested on Saturday have come positive on Sunday.

These include 109 from Lucknow, 49 from Moradabad, 46 from Hardoi, 20 from Sambhal, 11 from Shahjahanpur, 05 from Kannauj and 01-01 patients from Gorakhpur and Ambedkarnagar.

Along with this, new cases of virus have also been confirmed in reports from several other laboratories.

In the report of 355 samples released from BRD Medical College Gorakhpur related to the Basti district on Monday, 08 were found to be positive case of Covid-19.

According to Dr A.K. Gupta, there are infected migrants and the people who came in contact with these labourers. All are being sent to level-2 Covid hospitals in OPEC Hospital Kaili by ambulance. Those exposed to the infected are being marked. They will be sampled if is needed.

The total number of corona cases in the district has been 419. So far, 58 are positive cases of corona. At the same time, after the third report of six positive patients came negative, they have been discharged from the hospital. So far 16 have died in the district, while the number of discharged patients is 345.

According to District Magistrate Ashutosh Niranjan, 16,846 samples have been sent in the district so far for testing, of these, 15,332 reports have been received, while 1,514 reports are yet to come.

Similarly, two more people have been confirmed to be corona positive in Gonda district on Sunday night report.

According to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr Madhu Gairola, one patient is from Gandhi Nagar in Colonelganj. So far, 14 positives have been found in Gandhi Nagar, of which one has died. The town of Colonelganj has been closed for seven days. The second patient is from Ranipurwa area of โ€‹โ€‹the city, which is being shifted to a hospital in Level One.

As of Monday afternoon, 20 new corona cases have been confirmed in Varanasi district.

In Gautam Budh Nagar, 64 people have been found corona infected in the last twenty four hours. The number of corona infected has now reached to 3,377 in the district. 2,484 people in the district have recovered and gone home. At the same time, 33 people have died.

Four more corona positives have been found in the report on Monday in Maharajganj district. So far, 282 positive cases have been reported in the district. Of which 160 people have recovered and gone home after treatment. Out of the four people who have confirmed the infection by District Magistrate Ujjwal Kumar, two people are from Belwa Siswa and one is a resident of one Nicholol and one police line. All the infected have been sent to Covid Care Hospital Purana for treatment. Thus, the total corona cases in the district now stand at 282. Corona active cases are 119 and the total number of healthy discharges is 160.

Meanwhile, Additional Chief Secretary Medical Health and Family Welfare Amit Mohan Prasad reached the Agra district on Monday to review the measures being taken to prevent corona infection.

He said in a meeting with the administrative officials at the circuit house that due to rain, water and mosquito-borne diseases will increase. In this case, there should be proper forming and sanitization. At the same time, patients admitted to Covid-19 hospitals should get treatment properly. There should not be any negligence in health services.

He said that two yards social distance must be complied with in the markets. Action should be taken against those who roam without wearing mask and strict adherence to the containment zone. On Saturday and Sunday, he said that the entire closure should be fully followed.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed to increase the testing capacity for Corona to 50 thousand tests each day.

He said that pulse oximeters have been made available at the village and ward levels by the state government. They should be utilized in dealing with the corona.
