Two notorious criminals of Himanshu Bhau gang held in Delhi police encounter

New Delhi, January 23: The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested two notorious criminals associated with the Himanshu Bhau gang after an encounter. The arrested accused have been identified as Vicky alias Mogli and Chander Bhan, the police informed.

Both have been involved in several serious cases including murder, attempted murder, and extortion. Haryana Police had announced a reward of Rs 5,000 on the accused Vicky alias Mogli.

The Crime Branch Deputy Commissioner of Police Harsh Indoran said in a press conference on Friday that on January 22, the Crime Branch received a strong intelligence that active members of the Himanshu Bhau gang were planning to carry out a major crime in Delhi before Republic Day. Taking the information seriously, a special team was formed under the leadership of Inspector Anil Malik.

He further told that at around 1 a.m. on the intervening night of January 22 and 23, a police team stopped a white Hyundai i20 car under the UER-2 flyover on the Hirankudna-Dachau Village Road. Feeling cornered, the two criminals opened fire on the police. Accused Vicky alias Mogli fired two rounds, one of which struck Head Constable Sandeep’s bulletproof jacket, narrowly saving his life. The police team, demonstrating restraint and presence of mind, retaliated in self-defense. The bullet fired by SI Anshu Kadian struck Vicky in the leg, injuring him, and both accused were apprehended. The injured accused was immediately rushed to Rao Tula Ram Hospital, from where he was referred to DDU Hospital.

The DCP added that during interrogation, it was revealed that Vicky alias Mogli is a close associate and arms supplier of the Himanshu Bhau gang leader. He is wanted in several murder cases registered in Rohtak district of Haryana, including a sensational double murder case in 2024. Chander Bhan also carried out the crimes with him. Police recovered a pistol, a country-made pistol, 18 live cartridges, and a car from the accused.
