Sitapur, 20 Oct: Police said on Friday that a man who runs a priest training center in Sidhauli, Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur district, was detained for reportedly assaulting a 14-year-old pupil who ran away from the center.

Police also informed, Satish Joshi is allegedly shown viciously hitting a youngster in the presence of several classmates in a two-minute video that went popular on social media. He smacked the youngster before striking him with a stick. He scooped up the pupil and flung him to the ground as the other students saw the entire scene. Satish refused to give in to the boy’s pleadings for pity.

Joshi (30) was detained on October 8 following a complaint filed by Sushil Kumar Srivastava, who stated that he had lent the accused a portion of his building to conduct the training center.

“In the first week of October, a video of the event became viral. The three-month training program was scheduled to conclude on October 12. I learned from reliable sources that the youngster had attempted to flee the center twice. The boy’s father returned him to the center. Satish thrashed the youngster on the recommendation of his father to teach him a lesson. “The father took a cellphone video of the incident and later shared it on social media,” he explained.

“I did it because he wasn’t ready to file a police report. Satish has been imprisoned,” he added. Srivastava stated that he had offered Joshi an empty space of the building where the latter operates a private school.

“He had occupied the space for three months. Around 20 children, all of whom were local residents, took part in the training program,” he continued.

Joshi was booked under Indian Penal Code sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), and 506 (criminal intimidation), according to Rakesh Kumar Singh, station house officer of the Sidhauli police.
