Shimla, February 8: Incidents of disappearances of minors have been reported from time to time in rural areas of Himachal Pradesh, sometimes involving the disappearance of more than one child at a time, posing a serious challenge for the police. One such case has come to light in the Theog area of โโShimla district.
According to information, a woman and her husband had gone to work in the fields and left their two daughters with their grandmother. Upon returning in the evening, one of the 16-year-old girls was found missing. The family immediately began searching the surrounding areas.
During the search, it was discovered that two other women living in the same area had also had their 12 and 13-year-old daughters missing since the same time. Subsequently, family members and local residents jointly searched nearby villages and relatives’ homes, but no trace of the three girls was found.
In this case, the police have registered a case under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Theog Police Station and have kicked off the probe.
