New Delhi, 13 October: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said that the country is indebted to the Sikh Gurus. Their role in society and nation building is venerable.

While addressing the program organized by ‘Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee’ at ICAR Convention Center, New Delhi on Friday,

Shah said that he bows his head and salutes the Guru tradition of Sikhism. The Guru tradition of 10 generations of Sikh Panth has set before the world an excellent example of struggle and sacrifice against injustice and barbarity of the invaders.

Shah said that Guru Nanak Dev Ji preached equality of all religions in many countries through his “four sorrows” in his life. His feet have been found from Karnataka to Mecca. In those days, one had to travel so much on foot to spread the message of selfless love. Years ago, when all the religions were fighting a war regarding their respective sects, the teachings given by Nanak Dev Saheb to Dasham Pita, today the whole world is following those teachings.

Shah said that the Sikh community moves forward taking both religion and work equally. When it comes to sacrificing one’s life for religion, a true Sikh never looks back. From the independence of the country to the security of the country today, the sacrifice of Sikh brothers is the highest.
