Lucknow, November 9: A teacher riding a bike was killed after being hit by a DCM loaded with gas cylinders on Sunday morning in the Para police station area of โโLucknow. Police have sent the body for post-mortem and have begun investigating the case.
Para police station in-charge Suresh Kumar said that Julie Yadav (24), daughter of farmer Ajay, a resident of Mauda village, was a sports teacher at The Lucknow Public School (LPS) School in Ashiana. She was also an athlete and had been part of the All India Hockey Team, winning a gold medal in the junior category.
Fellow player Ratna said that she received a call from the school informing her that Julie was seriously injured and had been taken to the hospital. She was declared dead during treatment at the Medical College Trauma Center.
The station in-charge said that the family learned about the incident that a badminton championship was being held at the school. She left for school on her bike at six in the morning. On the way, she remembered she had forgotten her mobile phone. As she turned the bike at the Mauda turn, she collided with a DCM. The driver fled with the DCM immediately.
The station in-charge stated that a case has been registered against the unknown driver based on a complaint from the family. CCTV footage from the scene is being reviewed.
