Lucknow, November 9: Ex IAS officer Jitendra Kumar, who was admitted to the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, passed away on Sunday. He had been ill for a long time.

1990 batch IAS officer, retired on June 30, 2025 after 35 years of administrative service. During his tenure, he held several important positions in the state government, including Additional Chief Secretary (General Administration), Principal Secretary (Tourism Department), and Director General of Tourism. He was always in the news for his efficiency, gentle nature, and friendly demeanor.
The former IAS officer, who had been ill for a long time, was undergoing treatment at the SGPGI. On Sunday, doctors declared him dead during treatment. His death sent shockwaves through the administrative world.

Posting on Instagram, he wrote, “I pray to Lord Shri Ram to give the departed soul a place in his feet. He also gives the bereaved family the strength to bear this immense loss.”
