Tandav row: Team of police officers leave for Mumbai to interrogate ‘Tandav’ team

Lucknow, 18 January: A First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged against five persons including ‘Tandav’ film director late in the night at Hazratganj Kotwali police station in the Lucknow.

However, for further action on this case, a team of four police officers from Lucknow have left for Mumbai to interrogate the ‘Tandav’ team.

According to FIR, actor Saif Ali Khan and Dimple Kapadia starrer web series ‘Tandava’, streaming on Amazon Prime, is facing public outrage on various social media platforms over film’s content in which Hindu Gods and Goddesses have been allegedly shown in an ‘insulting manner’ which can hurt the religious sentiments of people.  

In fact, after the promo of the web series ‘Tandava’ went viral on social media platforms, distasteful comments are being made about it. It is alleged that the release of this series may provoke sentiments of the majority community of the country.

Senior sub-inspector Amarnath Yadav informed that an FIR has been lodged against the web series ‘Tandav’ director Ali Abbas Zafar, producer Himanshu Krishna Mehra, writer Gaurav Solanki, content head of Amazon India Aparna Purohit and one more person for dividing religious communities, showing Hindu deities in an undignified and also portraying the post of Prime Minister of India in a belittling manner causing public outrage over social media platforms.
