Sukma: 4 CRPF personnel killed, 3 injured after colleague opens fire in Chhattisgarh

Raipur/Sukma, November 8: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan Ritesh Ranjan fired indiscriminately at his fellow jawans with AK-47 at Linganapalli camp in Sukma, Chhattisgarh at 3 am.

As per reports, in the firing, 4 soldiers were killed, while 3 were injured. The condition of the two injured jawans is said to be critical.

The state’s Bastar region’s Inspector General (IG) of Police Sundarraj P has confirmed the incident.

Meanwhile, the injured have been sent to Raipur by chopper. The accused jawan has been taken into custody after the incident. There is also a camp for the soldiers of the 85th Battalion in this camp.

The CRPF personnel who were injured in the firing were taken to a hospital in Bhadrachalam, Telangana, about 11 km from the camp.

During treatment there, 3 jawans died, while seeing the condition of 2 others critical, they are being referred from chopper to Raipur. The accused jawan had a dispute with his fellow soldiers even a day earlier.

According to the CRPF officials, 2 jawans who were victims of firing were from Bihar, while 1 was a resident of West Bengal. Details about the fourth jawan could not be found yet. The deceased jawans include Dhanji and Rajmani Kumar Yadav, residents of Bihar and Rajib Mandal, residents of West Bengal, besides Dharmendra Kumar, another jawan.

Apart from these, jawans Dharmendra Kumar Singh, Dharmatma Kumar and Malaya Ranjan Maharana are seriously injured.
