Sonia Gandhi seeks more time to appear before ED

New Delhi, 22 June: Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi asked the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a letter on Wednesday to postpone her appearance for a few weeks while she fully recovers from a lung infection and Covid.

The Congress president was contacted by the Enforcement Directorate on June 23 to request cooperation in a money-laundering investigation involving the National Herald newspaper.

According to a tweet from Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh, Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi has written to ED today asking that her appearance there be postponed by a few weeks until she has fully recovered because she has been strictly advised to rest at home after being hospitalised for a lung infection and Covid.

Sonia Gandhi was discharged on Monday from a Delhi private hospital. Congress has accused the center of a “political vendetta” and improperly using investigative agencies to target opposition figures.
