So far, 247 infected by virus out of 5,156 samples in UP, 74 cases from Lucknow

Lucknow, July 18: To prevent the spread of global pandemic coronavirus infection across the state, the Uttar Pradesh police were seen busy in strictly enforcing the complete lockdown imposed from 10 pm on Friday night to 5 am on Monday July 20.

The challans of the people, who were unnecessary venturing out, have been slapped and some of them were released after giving strict instructions.

However, the impact of this two-day weekly ban is also visible on the streets of the capital. Only those involved with essential services are being allowed to move.

Apart from government and private offices, markets, shopping complexes and other establishments are completely closed.

In the Microbiology Department of King George’s Medical University (KGMU) of the Lucknow, 247 reported to be positive cases of Covid-19 on Saturday out of 5,156 samples tested on Friday.

These included 74 from Lucknow, 42 from Sambhal, 36 from Shahjahanpur, 31 from Hardoi, 24 from Moradabad, 18 from Ayodhya, 14 from Barabanki, 02 from Mathura and 01-01 patients from Basti, Balrampur, Sultanpur, Gonda, Azamgarh and Pilibhit.

Along with this, new cases of corona have also been confirmed in reports from several other laboratories of the state.

So far, 438 test reports came in Siddharthnagar district on Saturday out of which six people have been found infected with the virus. However, the 432 report has been negative. Two 42- and 27-year-old employees posted at the District Tuberculosis Hospital have also been found to be corona positive.

A 48-year-old woman resident of Ghosiyari Bazar of Khesraha block has been found infected. A 40 and 50-year-old woman resident of Mahulani in her block has also been found infected. A 33-year-old woman from the district has been found corona positive during corona screening in Lucknow. The Health Department team is engaged in locating the woman’s village. All these positive patients are infected on contact.

Additional Chief Medical Officer Dr Saurabh Chaturvedi said that in this way, the total number of infected people has increased to 367. There are 94 active cases. 263 people have been cured. So far 10 people have died.

In the Basti district, on Saturday morning, a report of 195 was released from the Truenat test machine placed at BRD Medical College, Gorakhpur and District Hospital in which 29 new corona positives including senior BJP leader resident of Gandhi Nagar have been found positive cases of Covid-19, whereas reports of 166 tests came negative. With this, the number of infected has increased to 531 in the district.

On the other hand, ten employees of HDFC Bank are also among the infected. The rest of the patients are from rural areas. All these are being admitted to Level-1 hospital of OPEC Hospital at Cali.

The report of 423 samples came in Sant Kabir Nagar on Saturday in this, report of 405 came negative and 14 people including female doctors have turned out to be corona positive. In this way, the number of corona infected patients has now increased to 510 in the district.

However, total 14 new corona-positive patients have been found in the Basti district, maximum four in Semariyan block, three each in Belharkala and Nathanagar block, two in Santha block and one each in Baghauli and Khalilabad blocks. All these positive patients are being admitted to the Corona Level-1 Ward of St. Thomas Inter College-Khalilabad for treatment. At the same time, seven people have died from the deadly virus so far.

Similarly, results of 364 reports were received from BHU lab in Varanasi on Saturday afternoon in which 51 new corona infected patients have been found. Thus, the total corona patients in Varanasi district have increased to 1169 while 513 patients have been cured and discharged to their homes. Currently the number of active corona infected patients is 625 while 31 have died so far.

Action should be taken strictly at the local level in the risk zone

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that action should be taken strictly while deciding at the local level regarding the risk zone. Door-to-door survey campaigns should be ensured on a large scale. Rapid tests should be carried out and action should be taken to admit corona suspect cases to Covid hospital with speed.

Accelerate the process of testing of corona in every district

The Chief Minister said that rapid test kits are being provided in every district. In connection with this, proper training should be ensured in districts with population less than 25 lakh and minimum 1000 rapid antigen tests in districts with population of 500 and above.

โ€œThe surveillance team should work effectively. These teams should be kept fully active. The survey activities should be conducted in mission mode. The testing process of corona should be expedited in every district. He instructed not to waste any kind of laxity in it,โ€ CM Yogi added.
