Security forces gun down 2 terrorists in J&K

Jammu, 14 June:
 Security Forces have killed two more terrorists in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday.  

 Security forces had launched a cordon and search operation in Braw Bandina area of Awantipora in south Kashmir after receiving intelligence input about the presence of militants in the area.  As the forces were conducting searches in the area, the militants fired upon them. The security forces retaliated.

After centre dismissed the plea of the valley- based political parties to halt counter-insurgency operations during Ramadan, many top-ranked local and foreign ultras were eliminated in different encounters with security forces taking the number to more than 100 during first six months of 2019.

Security forces have neutralised 25 terrorists including top commanders in the holy month of Ramadan in Kashmir valley alone.  Three security personals and three civilians were also killed during the period.

Among those killed included top wanted terrorist Zakir Musa of Ansar Ghazwat ul Hind, whom security forces gunned down during a 24-hour encounter in volatile Tral area of South Kashmir.

However, on the other hand, Pakistan continuously violating ceasefire on the line of control and international border (IB).

Pertinently, the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan came into force in November 2003, but the intermitted violation of the agreement started after a few years.

In the year 2018 had broken all the previous record with 2,936 ceasefire violations by Pakistan, which was the highest in the past 15 years with an average of eight cases daily, in which 61 people were killed and over 250 injured.

According to Defence experts, the year 2019, could cross the previous figure as well, as Pakistan has increased the frequency of the violations since the start of this calendar year and post-Balakot, it increased to more than 11 times a day.
