Lucknow, October 08: The global pandemic novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19) has the greatest affect on the human lungs, in which patients may have to breathe quickly and may feel tired. For this, it is important to pay special attention to your diet and do breathing exercises daily in the morning.

Dr Suryakant, President of the Department of Respiratory Medicine of King George’s Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow and a member of the Corona Task Force, told that those in home isolation should periodically check their oxygen levels.

He said that if the oxygen level is more than 95, then there is nothing to be disturbed but if it reaches between 90 and 94 then a control room or doctor should be contacted immediately. Going down the oxygen level can increase the difficulty and may also lead to hospitalization.

Dr Suryakant added further that there is a clear instruction in the guidelines of home isolation that the corona undertaker and caregiver will regularly monitor their health and inform the doctor if they feel any change. It also instructs that if the saturation of oxygen in the body is less than 95 percent or if there is difficulty in breathing, then the control room should be contacted. Not doing so can prove fatal.

โ€œApart from this, in the event of persistent chest pain and heaviness, mental confusion or inability to be alert, difficulty in speaking, weakness in face or any part of the face and blueness on lips and face, the control room will be required to tell either doctor,โ€ Dr Suryakant informed.

Dr Suryakant further told that this is why home-based symptomatic Covid-positive patients have to purchase and keep a kit that includes pulse oximeters, thermometers, masks, globs, sodium hypochlorite solution and immunity enhancers.

Hand cleaning and mask are very important for caregivers:

-After cleaning or coming in contact with any item, do cleaning hands.

-After using the toilet, before cleaning, before and after preparing the food, do hands cleaning.

-To wash hands, use soap-water for at least 40 seconds or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

– After washing hands, wipe and dry the hands with disposable paper or personal towel.

-During this time, the use of a three-layer medical mask is also very important.
