Ruling and opposition MLAs stage demonstrations over women’s quota in Lucknow

Before the start of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly session on Thursday, MLAs and ministers from both the ruling party and the opposition staged protests, with BJP women MLAs leading the march into the Assembly while holding placards declaring slogans such as “India will not tolerate the disrespect of women power” and “The whole country is watching the dilemma of the Indian alliance.”

The Assembly session has been convened to discuss women’s empowerment. Before the House proceedings began at 11 am, ministers, MLAs, and other leaders of the Yogi government arrived holding placards in favor of women’s reservation. They were shouting slogans against the Samajwadi Party and Congress.

Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh said that the opposition is anti-women. In the Samajwadi Party, women outside the family are not given any positions. In the Samajwadi Party, only Dimple Yadav is given important responsibilities. In the Congress, only Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are promoted. The entire country is watching. Congress celebrated the defeat of the Women’s Respect Bill in Parliament. The opposition expressed happiness. The Bharatiya Janata Party is working to ensure women’s rights. With the coming of Prime Minister Modi at the center and the Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh, women’s respect has increased. They are being given priority in government jobs. Today, women are becoming entrepreneurs. Today, the Assembly will discuss women’s empowerment.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party MLAs, led by Leader of the Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey, staged a protest in front of Chaudhary Charan Singh’s statue. Senior SP MLA and former minister Sangram Singh Yadav said that the BJP is constantly lying. The Women’s Reservation Bill was passed in Parliament in 2023. The Samajwadi Party supports it. Why is the Modi government not implementing that bill? The country’s cabinet passed it. He said that similarly, the caste census was promised, with the right to share, but the BJP is not conducting it either. The BJP has fallen into a trap of its own making. The SP is opposing it.
