New Delhi, July 30: Rajya Sabha (RS) Member of Parliament (MP), Sanjay Singh today officially quit the Congress  and the Parliament  and set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday.

Earlier, today the Rajya Sabha chairman Venkaiah Naidu accepted the resignation of the Congress leader from Amethi.

Singh said there was a complete lack of communication and leadership was completely missing in the party.  He added that Congress was still stuck in the past and was unaware of its future but  today the country stood with Prime minister Narendra Modi and since the country was with him, he would support him.

After resigning from Congress, he left the party since it was bereft of leadership  and added that he supported the PM Modi because of his “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas” policy.

Singh’s wife, Amrita Singh who was the chairperson of All India Professional Congress also quit the party as well. Attacking Congress, Singh said he did not think that a party lacking  dialogue and leadership would do anything for the country while rendering his resignation from the Congress as well as his  Rajya Sabha membership.

Singh is said to have a considerable influence in the Amethi region of Uttar Pradesh.

It is noteworthy that in the recent concluded Lok Sabha elections, Sanjay Singh had contested on a Congress ticket from Sultanpur constituency but lost to BJP’s Maneka Gandhi by a huge margin.
