Rising of Covid: Lucknow worst-hit city in Uttar Pradesh, 36 patients died in 24 hours

Lucknow, 17 April: Lucknow is the worst affected by the second wave of the global pandemic Covid-19 in Uttar Pradesh where 36 patients have died of corona in the last 24 hours taking the total death toll to 1481.

Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours in Lucknow, 5913 fresh cases of novel coronavirus have been reported. Beds in government hospitals in Lucknow have fully occupied whereas 17 private hospitals have been asked to admit Covid patients.

Meantime, there was a panic broke out in the Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) Hospital in Lucknow due to the shortage of oxygen cylinders. During this period, the condition of 2 Covid patients also deteriorated.

Similar condition was witnessed at SGPGI where relatives of Corona infected patients arrived but could not get their patient admitted in the hospital. According to the SGPGI management that under no circumstances a system of admitting fresh patients of Covid-19 is being developed.

Like Lucknow, the situation in Kanpur and Varanasi in the state remains very worrying. Nearly 934 Corona-infected patients have died in Kanpur and 506 in Varanasi taking the total death toll to 9703 in Uttar Pradesh so far.

It is worth mentioning that in the last 24 hours, 27357 fresh cases have been reported across the Uttar Pradesh in which 120 patients have succumbed. In Uttar Pradesh alone, 170059 active cases are present at this time whereas in the last 24 hours, 215790 corona samples have been tested across various laboratories in the state.
