Restaurants starts campaign against food platforms-Zomato, Eazydiner and others

New Delhi, Aug.17: Over 1200 restaurants in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Goa, Pune and Vadodara have opted out themselves from the food aggregators platform like Zomato, Magicpin, Eazydiner, Gourmet Passports and Nearbuy on Friday. They have launched ‘#Logout’ campaign against practices of deep discounting and table reservation by the same. These practices hurt their business.

The president of National Restaurant Association of India(NRAI), Rahul Singh said that the response within two days after launch of this movement shows how restaurants across states have been suffering from deep-discount epidemic of these platforms. 

In response to this, Zomato has shared a blog post with restaurateurs questioning the said campaign and stated that some of the proposals are being considered by it, the price fixing and limiting supply of services may lead to groupism.They urged restaurateurs to be careful and not be involved in such discussion. It has also asked restaurateurs to inform it  45 days in advance in case of exit from the platform and asked for re-sign-up fees.  

The Dineout is considering various B2B modules to increase revenues and cut costs while improving the bottomline.

The food aggregator platforms and the food outlets are working closely to sort out this matter in a manner beneficial to both the parties.
