New Delhi, 05 September: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday met defense ministers of the three countries to discuss defense cooperation and other strategic issues, given the geographical importance of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan countries in Moscow. After this, Rajnath Singh left for Tehran directly from Moscow instead of returning to India.

Singh will meet Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami there.

Due to the nefarious designs of China on the northeast and Pakistan on the western border, the Indian Defense Minister’s visit to Iran is considered to be very crucial.

However, before leaving from Moscow on Saturday, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh met Tajikistan’s Defense Minister Colonel General Sherli Mirzo, Kazakhstan’s Defense Minister Lt. Gen. Nurlan Yermekbayev and Uzbekistan’s Defense Minister Major General Kurbanov.

He said that bilateral relations and defense cooperation with Uzbekistan remains an important pillar of India.

The Defense Minister tweeted that in a conversation with the Defense Minister of Kazakhstan, we discussed ways to further accelerate the defense cooperation of both countries.

Similarly during the meeting with the Defense Minister of Tajikistan A fruitful meeting was held. Our dialogue covered a broad spectrum of defense relations between India and Tajikistan. In the same way, there are many more.

Rajnath Singh, who went to the Russian capital Moscow to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting, was scheduled to leave for India today.

Nevertheless, he continued his journey to meet the counterparts of the three countries.

Keeping in view the geographical importance of all these countries, talking to Rajnath Singh with these defense ministers is a very important step.

It is believed that Rajnath Singh would instead go back to Tehran directly from Moscow and meet Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami.

Due to several incidents involving Iran, US and United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the region, tensions in the region have increased, hence the visit of the Defense Minister of India to Iran is considered very important.

Relations between India and Iran have remained unaffected despite US pressure.

The Modi government has been consistently working as an important ally for Iran since 2014.

Tensions with China on the Ladakh border has provided logistical support to the Pakistani army, so talks with Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami could prove to be a game changer due to the nefarious plans of China on the northeast and Pakistan on the western border.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh’s visit to Iran is considered significant as part of his extended neighbourhood for India as well as connectivity projects.
