Raids on illegal abattoir, three arrested with 250 kg of meat of ‘banned animal’

Bahraich, June 28: In Khargaura Janub village, illegal slaughterhouses were operated and the banned animals were being cut and sold. However, the police reached the spot on getting tip-off, raided the illegal slaughterhouse on Sunday, police said.

During this time, police recovered knives, ax, scales and weights along with 250 kg meat and the head of the banned animal.

The police have arrested three smugglers including a woman from the spot. The police are raiding in search of the other accused who are absconding.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Vipin Mishra has given strict instructions to clamp down on illegal slaughterhouses in the district. All the police stationers have spread a network of informers in their area to prevent and disclose the incident.

Visheshwarganj police station house officer (SHO) Ashok Singh received a lead from the informer that some people in Khargaura Janub are selling banned animals.

Taking the information seriously, the SHO formed a team of Janardhan Yadav, Neeraj Kumar, Shani Verma, women constables Nidhi Singh and Nidhi Pandey under the leadership of SI Gajraj Yadav and directed them to hold on.

While raiding the police, Arbaaz son Samasuddin, Salman son Riyazuddin and Amina wife Samasuddin resident village Khargaura Janub were arrested.

The police station sources said that 250 kg of meat, knife, ax, scales and weights were recovered along with the banned animal’s head from the spot. Some of the accused managed to escape during the raid. Teams are being set up to search for them.
